Congratulations – you’re pregnant! We hope that you are enjoying your pregnancy and are feeling well. You may be looking at this page because you are wondering how to prepare yourself for birth and parenthood or you may be feeling not as well as you had hoped and are looking to resolve some of these discomforts.
Women have been using complementary therapies to assist them in their different stages of life, including pregnancy for many thousands of years. Women’s wisdom was passed down from generation to generation, through our grandmothers, mothers and other women. These days, we also have a wealth of scientific information to assist us to use these therapies appropriately and effectively. Often, many therapies such as acupressure, are safe and can easily be administered yourself. For others, such as plant based medicines and nutritional therapies, guidance by an appropriately trained practitioner is strongly recommended, particularly during the first three months of pregnancy when your baby’s major organs are developing.
At The Nest, we will be offering a range of complementary therapies alongside the care you will be receiving from your midwife and/or doctor including; herbal medicine consultation from preconception to menopause, acupressure classes for labour and birth, pregnancy massage and pregnancy yoga. Pregnancy Yoga Prenatal yoga is designed to support the changes happening in your body as your baby grows. It allows you to take some time out to connect with your baby and your body as well as promoting muscular & core strength in preparation for birth and breastfeeding. Classes will be running on Tuesday evenings from 5.45-7.15pm at The Broulee Yoga Shed 11 Banksia St, Broulee.
